JUST ART
An Elementary School Art Docent Program
For children in grades Kindergarten - Fifth
-
Art can give kids the confidence to try something without fearing failure. Now more than ever, children need to be encouraged to think outside the box and recognize the beauty of their individuality.
-
The Just Art Docent Program is for children in grades kindergarten to fifth. The program consists of six years of curriculum, so students won’t overlap projects. Gold Ridge Elementary School is currently using it.
-
The program provides six art docent lessons per school year.
Web-Based Training
Each one-hour art lesson is a two-part PowerPoint presentation.

To assist your school art docent coordinators, Just Art provides the following:

A summary sheet with an art materials supply list
-
A list of California core art skills covered in the lesson
-
A presentation to aid the art docent conducting the lesson
To enhance the effectiveness of Just Art, I allocate one evening every month to personally conduct hands-on training sessions for the art docents at your school. This approach not only instills confidence in their ability to teach the project, but also enables them to relish in the experience of doing the art project themselves.
